Matthew is one half of
Alfie / Jackson Duo - playing everything from Pop to Rock to Country - with soulful and honest singing, accompanied by acoustic/electric guitars and ukulele. We take popular artists (and ones you've never heard of) and add our own twists and turns to the arrangements. We play some songs that'll make people want to sing along, and yet we have selections that someone can just stare at a drink or their muse while listening to us in the background. Alfie / Jackson has played outdoor festivals, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and dives. Looking forward to playing and seeing you at our spring and summer gigs! Follow in Instagram @alfiejecksonduo

2023 was so rewarding and fun that Matthew signed on for another ride!
DESIGNER. MANAGER. EDUCATOR.
FUN PERSON.
Matthew is a freelance lighting & scenic designer, Equity stage manager, and is on faculty at Temple University, in Philadelphia, with a focus in Design & Production. He heads both the the Stage Management and Theater Education programs, and teaches in the BFA in Technical Production & Management program. He regularly teaches Stage Management, Theater Management, Advanced Theater Management, Theater Safety & Management, World of the Play, Intro to Design, Methods of Teaching, Gen Eds, and more.
He's worked in production capacities from technical direction to production management in most genres of performance - in venues large, small, and outdoors - across the U.S. including New York, San Francisco, Philadelphia, out to Hawaii, and as far away as Chile.
Matthew has roamed four continents and 48 of the 50 states. He has ventured to iconic birthplaces of sport and culture to sit in the seats of the Theater Dionysus, tee it up in Scotland, and gaze upon Kronborg Slot in Denmark. He's swam in the Agean, Atlantic, Mediterranean, Pacific, glacial lakes, and dipped his toes in The Seine, the Thames, The Mississippi, The Colorado after hiking to the bottom of the Grand Canyon; and countless other rivers and creeks. He's ridden donkeys in Costa Rica, camels in Morocco, and countless horses...on merry-go-rounds.
His jam is safety and he's constantly on the lookout for fire code and OSHA violations when downtown, on vacation, or out with friends and family. He's currently working on a book called "Means of Egrets" which tells the story of a young fowl learning the ways of fire safety from his wise father.
Beyond the industry, you'll find Matthew in his garden, tending to his hens, on the soccer field, and playing with his band @alfiejacksonduo on Instagram. He serves as the TD and project manager for his mid-century split level home. His wardrobe is city meets country, with earth tone influences, and an obligation to mix and match patterns and textures. You'll hear him humming something from Waitress in one breath and something from XM's Hair Nation on the next one.
Ultimately, Matthew is someone who with you'll want to eat a sandwich.
Oh, and go Phillies, Eagles, Union, Flyers, and 76'ers.
In 2024, Mobile and Seattle, I hope you'll stop by the Temple University table on the convention/expo floor to hear more about Temple University programs.
I'll be leading workshops/sessions at both conferences, so check it out! https://www.usitt.org/conference24
